Corn earworm

SYMPTOMS

Young larvae: Feed on the outer parts of leaves and between leaf veins, before moving into the whorl to feed on young leaves. Larger larvae: Can completely consume the growing point of the plant. Silk clipping: Young larvae clip corn silks off. Tunnel into silk channel: Larvae bore through the silk channel to the ear tip and begin feeding on the kernels.
