Yellow Stem Borer

SYMPTOMS

Dead heart: During the vegetative stage, the central shoot of the rice plant dries up and turns yellow. This is caused by the larvae entering the stem and feeding on the growing shoot , Broken stalks: The stem borer caterpillars damage the growing points of the plant, causing the stalks to break.
