Early shoot borer

SYMPTOMS

Dead hearts: Hatchlings can feed on delicate leaves and other shoots, causing "dead hearts". Foul odor: Infested tissues emit a foul odor. Drier leaves: The central whorl of leaves dries up in the damaged plants. Bore holes: A large number of bore holes can be seen at the base of the shoot just above the ground level
