Cabbage Head Borer

SYMPTOMS

Caterpillars will bore into the stems, stalks, and leaf veins. The entrance hole will be covered with silk and excreta. Caterpillars will bore into the cabbage head, making it unfit for consumption. The cabbage head may have holes and fecal matter. The plant will wilt, and frass will be exuded from the affected plant parts Older plants may produce new shoots and several small heads. The caterpillars may penetrate the heart of the plant, destroying the terminal bud and preventing heading.
