9 min readFRUITS stands for Farmer Registration and Unified Beneficiary Information System. It is the Karnataka government farmer database. You register once with your Aadhaar, fetch your land from Bhoomi, pick an approving officer and get a FRUITS ID (FID) after approval. Registration is online through Citizen Login on fruits.karnataka.gov.in, or in person at a Raitha Samparka Kendra or the taluk Horticulture office. Keep ready: Aadhaar with a linked mobile, RTC for each survey number, an Aadhaar-seeded bank passbook, and a caste certificate only if you want a category recorded. The official FAQ does not mention a fee. Check with your office before you pay anyone.
What is a FRUITS ID (FID) and what is the FRUITS portal?
FRUITS is a web system of the Karnataka government that registers farmers and records the benefits they get. The ID it gives is called the FRUITS ID, or FID. The official FRUITS portal says it was built so farmers do not submit the same papers to many departments every year. It was developed by the e-Governance department (DPAR) with the National Informatics Centre.
The NeGD directory entry adds that registration is one-time and Aadhaar-authenticated, valid across farm-related departments. It pulls land data from Bhoomi and also links caste certificate, Kutumba family records and crop survey data. It lists farmers with land and also people in dairy, poultry, fisheries, and forest dwellers under the Forest Rights Act.
| Fact | What the official source says |
|---|---|
| Full form | Farmer Registration and Unified Beneficiary Information System |
| Built by | DPAR (e-Governance), Karnataka with NIC; implementing agency Centre for e-Governance (NeGD entry) |
| Farmers registered | Portal home page: "More than 1 crore farmers registered in FRUITS" (no date shown) |
| Schemes using it | NeGD entry: more than 28 projects use FRUITS data, including MSP. Check the entry for the current count |
| Languages | Portal runs in Kannada and English |
Why do you need a FRUITS ID in Karnataka?
You need it because scheme offices read your land, Aadhaar and bank details from FRUITS instead of asking for papers again. The state describes PM-Kisan in Karnataka as implemented with FRUITS in the background. Whether a FRUITS ID is compulsory for every scheme is not stated on the pages we could open, so confirm with the office running your scheme.
| Where it is commonly asked | What to do |
|---|---|
| PM-Kisan payments in Karnataka | Keep land, Aadhaar and bank details correct in FRUITS. See PM-Kisan instalment status for how to check payment |
| Crop insurance enrolment | Have your FID and survey numbers ready. See PMFBY registration |
| Subsidy on inputs and equipment | Ask your RSK or Horticulture office if FID is needed. See the subsidy schemes overview |
| Crop loans and farm credit | Banks may ask for land and Aadhaar-linked details. See Kisan Credit Card |
| MSP procurement | NeGD lists MSP among the projects using FRUITS data. Ask the procurement centre what they need |
Several agri-company guides list more uses, such as scholarships and relief after crop loss. We did not find those on an official page, so we have not repeated them.
What documents are required for FRUITS ID registration?
The official FAQ lists three things: your Aadhaar number (mandatory), land details (RTC) if you register as a land-owning farmer, and a certificate if you register under a category such as Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe. In practice, keep an Aadhaar-linked mobile and a bank passbook ready as well, because the OTP and the benefit payment depend on them.
| Item | Why it is needed | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Aadhaar number and name as printed | Identity check. The registration page asks for the Aadhaar number and "Name as per Aadhaar", then Verify | Official registration page and FAQ |
| Mobile linked to Aadhaar | OTP comes here. The same number becomes your user ID | Official FAQ |
| RTC (pahani) of each survey number | Land is fetched from Bhoomi using district, taluk, hobli, village, survey and hissa number | FAQ; field names from BigHaat (VERIFY) |
| Caste or category certificate | Only if you want a category recorded | Official FAQ |
| Bank passbook with account and IFSC | For benefit payment. Bank details can be updated later | FAQ lists bank details as updatable; passbook need is practical advice (VERIFY) |
Check one thing before you begin: the name on the RTC and the name on Aadhaar should be close. If they are very different, the officer may not approve. Fix the record first at the Aadhaar or land office.
How to register for FRUITS ID online step by step?
Open fruits.karnataka.gov.in, go to Citizen Login, choose citizen registration, enter and verify your Aadhaar number and name as per Aadhaar, fetch your land from Bhoomi, select an approver, and submit. The registration is complete only when the officer approves it. Your mobile number becomes your user ID.
- Open the portal. Go to the FRUITS portal and click Citizen Login.
- Choose citizen registration. The registration page asks for your Aadhaar number and your name as per Aadhaar, then a Verify button.
- Verify with OTP. An OTP goes to the mobile linked to your Aadhaar. Never share this OTP with anyone.
- Add personal details. Mobile number, address and other fields as asked. Bank details can be added or updated (VERIFY exact screen order).
- Attach your land. Fetch each survey number from Bhoomi. Repeat for every plot, including land in another village or taluk (VERIFY on screen).
- Select the approver. Pick the officer who will check your record, usually the RSK agriculture officer or the taluk Horticulture officer (VERIFY who appears in your list).
- Submit and note the acknowledgement. Log in later with your mobile number to see approval status and your FID.
Field Tip: Take a screenshot or write down the acknowledgement after you submit. If approval is slow, the RSK officer can find your application faster with it.
How to register for FRUITS ID offline at a Raitha Samparka Kendra?
Go to the Raitha Samparka Kendra (RSK) of your hobli or the nearest taluk Horticulture department office. The official FAQ names both as places to register. Carry Aadhaar, your RTCs, the Aadhaar-linked phone, and a certificate if you want a category recorded. The officer enters the details and the OTP comes to your phone.
- Go in person so the OTP reaches your own phone.
- Ask the officer to read back the name, survey numbers and extent before approval.
- Ask for the FID in writing or on SMS before you leave (VERIFY how your office gives it).
- Common Service Centres may also help. This is mentioned in secondary guides and is not on the official FAQ (VERIFY).
The official FAQ does not mention a registration fee. If anyone asks you for money, ask for a written receipt and a government order, or report it through the grievance link on the portal.
How can joint owners and family members register in FRUITS?
In Bhoomi, joint owners share a single RTC record. In FRUITS, the official FAQ allows three options: register as one joint record with one FRUITS ID issued to one of the owners; each owner registers separately with a self-declaration of share; or each owner registers separately with an equal share.
| Option | Result | Good when |
|---|---|---|
| Joint record, one owner | One FRUITS ID for the holding, issued to one owner | Family agrees one member will handle benefits |
| Each owner, self-declared share | Land extent attached to each owner as declared | Shares are clear and known |
| Each owner, equal share | Extent divided equally among the names on the RTC | Land is not formally partitioned |
If land is still in the name of a person who has died, the record shown in Bhoomi decides what FRUITS can fetch. Complete the mutation at the land office first (VERIFY with your taluk office). Women farmers whose names are on the RTC can register in their own name.
How to check FRUITS ID status or find your FID number?
Log in through Citizen Login with your registered mobile number and password. Your approval status and FID are shown after login (as described in secondary guides, VERIFY on screen). If you cannot log in, visit your RSK or Horticulture office with Aadhaar and ask them to look up your existing ID.
- Open the FRUITS portal and click Citizen Login.
- Enter your registered mobile number, password and captcha.
- If you forgot the password, use the reset option on the login page (VERIFY).
- If the mobile number changed, use Update Mobile Number on the login page or visit the RSK (VERIFY).
- If you cannot log in at all, go to the RSK with Aadhaar. Do not register again.
Many searches ask for "FID number search by Aadhaar" or "by name". We did not find an official public search page for that on the portal pages we opened, so we do not give one. Beware of websites that claim to show your FID for a fee. For PM-Kisan, the PM-Kisan farmer status page is the official place to see payment status.
How do you update your FRUITS details?
Yes, details can be updated. The official FAQ says you can update land details, phone number, address and bank details, and correct your name if it changed in Aadhaar, or fix gender, caste or date of birth if entered wrongly. Land changes usually need officer approval again (VERIFY).
| Situation | What to update | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Bought, inherited or partitioned land | Add the new survey number | Bhoomi record must show your name first (VERIFY) |
| Sold land | Ask the officer to remove the plot | Keeps benefit records correct |
| New or closed bank account | Update account in FRUITS | Also ensure the bank has seeded it with Aadhaar |
| New mobile number | Update Mobile Number option or visit the RSK | Mobile is your user ID |
| Name changed in Aadhaar | Update name as per Aadhaar | Keep it close to the RTC name |
| Registered with no land, now own land | Add the survey number | So land-linked schemes can see it |
What are the common FRUITS registration problems and how can you fix them?
Most problems come from a mismatch: Aadhaar with no linked mobile, a wrong survey or hissa number, a name that differs between RTC and Aadhaar, or a slow approver. Fix the source record first, then retry or visit the RSK. These fixes follow the portal logic and field experience described in secondary guides (VERIFY with your office).
| Problem | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| OTP does not come | Mobile not linked to Aadhaar | Update mobile at an Aadhaar centre, then register |
| Land does not show from Bhoomi | Wrong survey, hissa or village; mutation pending | Check the RTC on Bhoomi; fix mutation at the land office |
| Name mismatch | RTC name differs from Aadhaar | Small spelling gaps may pass; a big gap needs a correction first |
| Pending approval | Officer has not acted | Visit the RSK with your acknowledgement |
| Benefit not credited | Bank account not seeded with Aadhaar or dormant | Visit the bank, seed and reactivate the account |
| Two IDs for one farmer | Registered twice | Ask the RSK to find your original ID; do not register again |
| Wrong data on record | Entry error | Use the update option or the grievance link on the portal |
The official FAQ confirms there is a feedback menu and a grievance menu on the home page. The grievance menu goes to the Public Grievance Redressal website. For helplines, check the contact details on the portal itself, as numbers in guides change over time.
Is the FRUITS ID the same as the central Farmer ID or AgriStack Farmer ID?
Not necessarily. FRUITS is the Karnataka state registry. The NeGD entry says the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare is replicating a farmer registry across the country, and YouTube guides in Kannada teach a separate "central Farmer ID". We did not find an official page that says how the two are linked in Karnataka, so ask your RSK which ID a scheme wants.
- Keep your FRUITS ID safe even if you also create a central Farmer ID.
- Use only official portals. Never share your Aadhaar OTP.
- AgriStack and the national Farmer ID programme are covered in our upcoming digital agriculture guide (not linked yet, as it is not published).
Which other Karnataka portals do farmers use along with FRUITS?
FRUITS holds your identity, land and benefit record. Other portals handle applications. The KKISAN portal (Karnataka Krishi Information Service and Networking) shows a farmer registration page, a farmer beneficiary application status page and application forms such as farm mechanisation. Use FRUITS to register, then use the department portals to apply.
If you are planning equipment or structures with subsidy, read our guides on tractor subsidy and polyhouse and shade net subsidy for general rules. Karnataka specific amounts and rules must be checked with the Department of Agriculture or Horticulture, because we did not verify state figures here. Keep our agriculture schemes calendar open to track scheme dates.
What is a quick checklist before you register for a FRUITS ID?
- Check Aadhaar: the mobile number is linked and the name is spelt as you want it.
- Check the RTC: download or note the survey and hissa numbers for every plot.
- Check the names: RTC name and Aadhaar name should be close.
- Keep the bank passbook: account in your own name, seeded with Aadhaar.
- Decide on joint land: choose one of the three official options before you start.
- Choose your route: Citizen Login at home, or the RSK with your documents.
- Save proof: write down the acknowledgement and your FID once approved.
Conclusion
A FRUITS ID is a one-time registration that lets Karnataka departments read your land, Aadhaar and bank details from one record. Get your Aadhaar, RTC and bank details matching, register once, and keep the record updated. If something does not work, go to your Raitha Samparka Kendra instead of registering again.
