PM-Kisan Next Installment: Status Check, eKYC and Payment Fixes10 min read

When will the next PM-Kisan installment come?

The next payment is the 24th installment, and as of 24 September 2026 the government has not announced its date. PM-Kisan works on three four-month periods: April to July, August to November and December to March. The 24th installment belongs to the August to November 2026 period.

Past releases show the pattern. The date is set by the Ministry of Agriculture and usually announced a few days before an event where the Prime Minister releases the money.

What is PM-Kisan and who gets it?

PM-Kisan (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi) is a central scheme that pays ₹6,000 a year to eligible landholding farmer families in three installments of ₹2,000. The money goes by direct benefit transfer (DBT) into the farmer's bank account.

A farmer family means husband, wife and minor children. Land must be in the farmer's name in state land records. There is no landholding size limit since 2019.

Who is excluded

•      Institutional landholders such as trusts and companies.

•      Families where any member is a present or former holder of a constitutional post, minister, MP, MLA, mayor or district panchayat chairperson.

•      Serving or retired central and state government employees, except multi-tasking staff, Class IV and Group D.

•      Retired pensioners getting ₹10,000 or more per month (same exception applies).

•      Anyone who paid income tax in the last assessment year.

•      Registered doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants and architects in practice.

If you fall in any of these groups and received money, you may get a recovery notice. The PIB note records ₹416.75 crore recovered from ineligible beneficiaries as of December 2025.

How to check PM-Kisan installment status

You can check status in two minutes on the official portal at pmkisan.gov.in or the PM-Kisan mobile app. You need your registration number, or your Aadhaar or mobile number to fetch it.

1.    Open pmkisan.gov.in and go to the Farmers Corner section.

2.    Click Know Your Status (also shown as Beneficiary Status).

3.    Enter your registration number. If you do not know it, click Know your registration number and use your Aadhaar or mobile number with OTP.

4.    Enter the captcha and the OTP sent to your registered mobile.

5.    Read the status page: eKYC status, land seeding, Aadhaar bank seeding and each installment's payment details with date and UTR number.

If all three checks (eKYC, land seeding and Aadhaar bank seeding) show Yes, you are in line for the next installment. If any one shows No, fix it before the release date or the payment will be held.

What do PM-Kisan status messages mean?

Each status message tells you where your payment is stuck. Most of them need action from you or a local office, not from Delhi.

How to complete PM-Kisan eKYC

eKYC is mandatory for every PM-Kisan beneficiary and can be done free in three ways. OTP eKYC works if your Aadhaar is linked to a working mobile number.

1.    OTP method: on pmkisan.gov.in, click e-KYC, enter Aadhaar, then enter the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile.

2.    Face authentication: install the PM-Kisan app and the Aadhaar FaceRD app, log in, and scan your face. This works even if your mobile is not linked to Aadhaar.

3.    Biometric method: go to a Common Service Centre (CSC) or state-designated centre with Aadhaar and give your fingerprint. Over 5 lakh CSCs support PM-Kisan registration and eKYC.

4.    Check status after 24 to 48 hours. eKYC should now show Yes.

If OTP fails, the usual reason is that your Aadhaar is linked to an old number. Update the mobile number at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra first, then retry.

Is Farmer ID needed for PM-Kisan?

Yes, the Farmer ID is becoming part of PM-Kisan. It is a unique digital ID created under AgriStack's Farmer Registry that links your Aadhaar with your land records. Reports in January 2026 said beneficiaries without a Farmer ID may be excluded from future installments.

In states where the Farmer Registry is live, new PM-Kisan registrations already need a Farmer ID. Existing beneficiaries are being asked to get one through camps, CSCs or the state AgriStack portal. You will need Aadhaar, a mobile linked to Aadhaar and your land details such as khasra or survey number.

Getting the Farmer ID now also helps with other schemes, since the same registry is being used for crop insurance, fertiliser distribution and Kisan Credit Card services.

PM-Kisan money not received: common reasons and fixes

If others in your village got the installment and you did not, the cause is almost always one of a few record problems. Match your case with the list below.

•      eKYC pending: complete it by any of the three methods above.

•      Money went to another account: PM-Kisan pays to the account mapped with Aadhaar at NPCI, not always the one you registered. Ask your bank which account is Aadhaar-seeded for DBT.

•      Dormant or closed account: reactivate it with a small transaction and fresh KYC at the branch.

•      Land seeding No: land mutation (after inheritance or sale) is not updated. Apply for mutation and ask the patwari or agriculture office to verify.

•      Name mismatch: spelling differs between Aadhaar and PM-Kisan. Use the Edit Aadhaar Failure Records option on the portal or visit the CSC.

•      Marked ineligible: you or a family member is an income tax payer or government pensioner. Such names are removed and may get recovery notices.

Missed installments are generally paid once the problem is fixed, provided you were eligible for that period. Do not register again with a new application; duplicate registrations are rejected.

How to register for PM-Kisan as a new farmer

New farmers can self-register on the portal or through a CSC. Registration is free, and approval depends on state verification of your land record, so the first payment can take one or two cycles.

1.    On pmkisan.gov.in, click New Farmer Registration and choose rural or urban farmer.

2.    Enter Aadhaar, mobile number and state, and verify with OTP.

3.    Fill in name exactly as in Aadhaar, bank details and land details such as khasra or survey number, plus your Farmer ID where the state requires it.

4.    Upload land documents if asked and submit. Save the reference number.

5.    Track approval under Status of Self Registered Farmer. The state and district officers verify land and eligibility before the name goes to the Centre.

Land owned after the cut-off date set by the scheme, other than by inheritance, may not qualify. If your application stays pending for months, ask the block agriculture office whether the tehsil has verified the land record.

How to file a PM-Kisan complaint

You can raise a complaint online or by phone. Keep your registration number and Aadhaar-linked mobile ready.

1.    On pmkisan.gov.in, open Help Desk or the grievance option under Farmers Corner.

2.    Enter your registration number or Aadhaar, get the OTP and choose the complaint type such as payment not received or wrong account.

3.    Describe the issue in one or two lines and submit. Note the grievance number.

4.    Or call the PM-Kisan helpline 155261 or 1800-115-526 (toll free). You can also use the Kisan eMitra AI chatbot on the portal.

5.    Follow up with your district or block agriculture officer, who is the PM-Kisan nodal officer at local level.

What to do next

Check your status this week, not on release day. If eKYC, land seeding and Aadhaar bank seeding are all Yes and your Farmer ID is done, the 24th installment should reach you along with everyone else.

The October to November window also matches rabi sowing. Many farmers use the ₹2,000 for basal inputs. If you do, spend it where it gives the most return: a soil test, certified seed and balanced nutrition, such as a wheat soil nutrition kit or a low-cost phosphate solubilizing bacteria biofertilizer that helps release fixed phosphorus from the soil. Follow the product label and your local agriculture officer's advice on doses.

Questions Farmers Ask

When will the PM-Kisan 24th installment come?
The date for the 24th installment has not been announced as of 24 September 2026. It falls in the August to November 2026 period, so a release in October or November is likely. Only the Ministry of Agriculture or PIB announcement confirms the date.
How can I check PM-Kisan status by Aadhaar number?
Go to pmkisan.gov.in, click Know Your Status, then Know your registration number. Enter Aadhaar and the OTP to get your registration number, then use it to see eKYC, land seeding and payment details for each installment.
Why is my PM-Kisan installment not credited?
Usually because eKYC is pending, land seeding shows No, or your bank account is not Aadhaar-seeded with NPCI. A dormant account or a name mismatch can also block payment. Check each item on the status page and fix the one marked No.
What does RFT signed by state government mean?
It means your state has verified your record and sent a Request for Transfer to the Centre. It is a normal step before payment. The next stage is FTO processed, after which money reaches your bank in a few working days.
Is eKYC mandatory for PM-Kisan?
Yes. eKYC is mandatory for all beneficiaries, and installments are held until it is complete. You can do it free by OTP on the portal, face authentication on the PM-Kisan app, or fingerprint at a CSC.
What is the PM-Kisan helpline number?
The PM-Kisan helpline numbers are 155261 and 1800-115-526 (toll free). You can also file a grievance on pmkisan.gov.in or use the Kisan eMitra chatbot on the portal for answers in local languages.
How much money has the government paid under PM-Kisan so far?
Over ₹4.46 lakh crore has been transferred since the scheme began in February 2019, as of the 23rd installment on 20 June 2026. The 23rd installment alone sent ₹18,880 crore to 9.44 crore farmers.
Can a tenant farmer get PM-Kisan?
Generally no. PM-Kisan is for landholding farmer families whose names are in the land records. Tenant or sharecropping farmers without land in their name are not covered under the central guidelines, though some states run their own support schemes.
Will I get missed PM-Kisan installments after fixing eKYC?
Usually yes, if you were eligible for those periods. Once eKYC, land seeding and bank seeding are corrected, pending installments are typically released with a later payment. Installments for periods when you were ineligible are not paid.
Do husband and wife both get PM-Kisan?
No. The benefit is per farmer family, which means husband, wife and minor children together. Only one member of the family can receive PM-Kisan, even if both spouses own land separately.
